Public Liability Insurance

A Public Liability Insurance Policy is in force for the benefit of all schemes affiliated to the Association.

Free at the point of access, the policy is arranged by National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) working in conjunction with Charities & Social Enterprise Insurance Management LLP (CaSE)and underwritten by Ansvar Insurance Company Limited.  The insurance is paid for by The Home Office.

Cover is available to any NW organisation which is registered with the police, and to make life easier, a bulk registration has been arranged. This association is registered with Hampshire Constabulary and has registered for the insurance on behalf of all schemes recorded as members of WDNWA. To qualify for the insurance at scheme level it is necessary to keep your details up to date with WDNWA, so please advise any changes promptly to your Area Coordinator.

The limit of indemnity is £5,000,000 and the policy provides Public Liability cover for third-party claims against members in connection with community activities, including:

There is an Excess of £100 and, as you would expect with any insurance policy, there are exclusions; for instance, it does not cover claims by members themselves arising out of their activities. As with any policy of insurance covering third-party claims, it is important that any letters or documents are forwarded to the insurance brokers unanswered and without delay.

The contact point within WDNWA is the Treasurer, to whom any queries should be addressed and to whom any potential claims should be notified. Please see contact details for the Treasurer on the Committee and Contacts page.  Your Area Coordinator also holds a copy of the Policy and of an explanatory leaflet.
