DATA LINK
DATA LINK is a simple method of storing essential medical information in the home in order that it is readily available should the need arise. DATA LINK is recognised by the Police, Ambulance & Fire Services, as well as Doctors and Practice Nurses.
It is a voluntary scheme for anyone who might be reassured to know that, should they suffer an accident or sudden illness in the home, personal information would be available to the Emergency Services.
The scheme ensures that vital information is available to identify you and to advise of relevant illnesses, allergies, medication and contact details. Details are stored in a clearly labelled container, which in turn is stored in a fridge door. Labels are affixed to the outside of the fridge and to the inside of the front door to indicate the existence of the storage canister.
The canisters can be obtained free of charge at many local surgeries, health clinics, health centres, council offices and community centres and from Neighbourhood Watch Area Co-ordinators.
DATA LINK is also known as 'Message in a Bottle' in some areas.
